“The Knowledge Contest of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing among Banking Industry” (“Knowledge Contest”) was held on 22 October 2016 at FAOM Building. This knowledge contest was co-organized by The Macau Association of Banks and The Macau Banking Employees’ Association, with the technical support from the Financial Intelligence Office (GIF). The Director of GIF, Ms. Deborah Ng and representatives from the Liaison Office of the Central People 's Government in the Macao SAR, the Macao Foundation, the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, the General Association of Macau Clerical Employees, the Macau Association of Banks, the Macau Banking Employees’ Association and other representatives from the banking industry attended the event.
A total of 16 teams from 12 banks participated in the Knowledge Contest. After a heated competition, the winner was Team A of Bank of China, the first runner up Banco Nacional Ultramarino, the second runner up China Construction Bank, and the Merit Award Team B of Tai Fung bank.
This Knowledge Contest aims to strengthen the understanding of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing laws and regulations of the banking practitioners so as to enhance the professionalism of the banking industries. GIF will continue to conduct different types of public awareness programs in order to deliver anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing knowledge to the public and other practitioners, for the betterment of economic environment and development for Macao.
